Walking” Tour around Lisbon (22 Mars 2023)

Legend has it that Lisbon, just like Rome, was born among seven hills. These hills are still important points of the city today, integrating several poems and songs that talk about the Portuguese capital. São Jorge is the most famous one, also one of the highest, and is the one which shelters the famous castle of Sao Jorge. We will take a tour to the castle and explore the oldest districts of Lisbon: Alfama, Mouraria, and their viewpoints. Also, a visit to the Jerónimos Monastery will end the day.

The Jerónimos Monastery was proclaimed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. A pantheon of the Avis-Beja Dynasty, in the 19th century the church became the sepulcher for heroes and poets: Vasco da Gama and Luís de Camões. (Included in the conference registration fee)
