Susana Sargento<\/b>

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bio: <\/strong>Susana Sargento<\/strong> is a Full Professor in the University of Aveiro and a senior researcher in the Institute of Telecommunications, where she is leading the Network Architectures and Protocols group. She was a visiting PhD student in Rice University (2000-2001), and a Guest Faculty in Carnegie Mellon University (2008).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Susana has been leading research projects with telecom operators and OEMs. She has organized several international conferences and workshops, such as ACM MobiCom, IEEE Globecom, and has also been a reviewer of conferences and journals, such as IEEE Networks, IEEE Communications.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Susana has co-founded a vehicular networking company, Veniam (www.veniam.com), she is the winner of the 2016 EU Prize for Women Innovators, and the winner of Femina 2020 prize in Science. She is also the co-coordinator of the national initiative of digital competences in the research axis INCoDe.2030, belongs to the evaluation committee of the Fundo200M (www.200m.pt), and she is one of the Scientific Directors of CMU-Portugal Programme.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her main research interests, with more than 400 scientific papers, are in the areas of self-organized networks, in ad-hoc and vehicular network mechanisms and protocols, such as routing, mobility, security and delay-tolerant mechanisms, resource management, and content distribution networks. She regularly acts as an Expert for European Research Programmes.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Keynote #2<\/strong><\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Title:<\/strong> Enabling Smart Environments through<\/strong> Internet of Things<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Abstract:<\/strong> This keynote addresses a hot topic focusing on enabling Smart Environments through Internet of Things, considering their major issues and research perspectives. It starts with the introduction to Internet of Things and their typical application scenarios and their main verticals. Several projects are presented to illustrated different solutions based on an IoT approach. IoT Opportunities to \u201cchange the World\u201d are discussed. The communications ends with new trends and challenges on Internet of Things, suggesting further research topics.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bio: <\/strong>Joel J. P. C. Rodrigues<\/strong> [Fellow, IEEE & AAIA] is with the College of Computer Science and Technology, China University of Petroleum, Qingdao, China; Senac Faculty of Cear\u00e1, Brazil; and senior researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunica\u00e7\u00f5es, Portugal. Prof. Rodrigues is an Highly Cited Researcher (Clarivate), N. 1 of the top scientists in computer science in Brazil (Research.com), the leader of the Next Generation Networks and Applications (NetGNA) research group (CNPq), Member Representative of the IEEE Communications Society on the IEEE Biometrics Council, and the President of the scientific council at ParkUrbis \u2013 Covilh\u00e3 Science and Technology Park. He was Director for Conference Development – IEEE ComSoc Board of Governors, an IEEE Distinguished Lecturer, Technical Activities Committee Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Latin America Region Board, a Past-Chair of the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee (TC) on eHealth and the TC on Communications Software, a Steering Committee member of the IEEE Life Sciences Technical Community and Publications co-Chair. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of E-Health and Medical Communications and editorial board member of several high-reputed journals (mainly, from IEEE). He has been general chair and TPC Chair of many international conferences, including IEEE ICC, IEEE GLOBECOM, IEEE HEALTHCOM, and IEEE LatinCom. He has authored or coauthored about 1100 papers in refereed international journals and conferences, 3 books, 2 patents, and 1 ITU-T Recommendation. He had been awarded several Outstanding Leadership and Outstanding Service Awards by IEEE Communications Society and several best papers awards.
